my dragon story chapter 5

Chapter 5
Satoshi couldn’t feel, see, hear or smell. All he was aware of was rapid thoughts of: I’m going to die. I’m going to die. I’m going to die. Then he fell with a huge thump on the ground. Satoshi could feel now, and it hurt.

“WAHHHHHHHH!” A girl’s voice screamed and something fell right on top of him. Satoshi’s eyes opened. He was staring at a strange multicolored rock. Satoshi tried to turn around, but there was a weight on his back.

“SATOSHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!” Jia screamed and fell right next to Satoshi.

“Hi Jia.” Satoshi said.

“That wasn’t nearly as rough as I expected.” Sabrina said and got off of Satoshi.

“You think?” Satoshi asked and got up. “What exactly were you expecting??”

“Pain......not total loss of all senses.” Sabrina said. There was a sudden rustle in the bushes. Sabrina reached for her sword handle. A unicorn appeared out of the bushes.

“Humans.” It said.

“Um, hello.” Sabrina said. She relaxed her hold on the sword handle.

“Humans are not supposed to be here in the mythical creature world.” The unicorn said.

“The mythical creature world? But we thought—?” Satoshi said.

“Dragons. They think that it’s their world.” The unicorn snorted. “Let me guess, you were sent here by Plaer.”

“No, as a matter of fact.” Jia said, taking control. “We were sent here by Plintafot.”

“So that is the name he goes by in the human world.” The unicorn said. “Well, welcome, I guess. I am Icxel. Your mission is to defeat.......Daeyi, right?”

“That’s right.” Sabrina said.

“Plaer, sending more kids to defeat........Daeyi. Tsk, tsk. I figured he’d send some adults this time.” Icxel said.

“What? We’re not the first?” Sabrina asked.

“Oh no. He’s sent at least 2 trios of kids so far. You’re the 3rd one.” Icxel said.

“Wow.....seriously?” Jia asked.

“I couldn’t be more serious.” Icxel said. “They came and went. Never came back. I don’t know how they are now.”

“Can you help us?” Jia asked.

“Look at this map.” Icxel said. He unfolded a map with some difficulty and laid it down on a large tree stump. “Over here is where we are now, the Misdgycal Forest. See, your goal is to go over here, to.........Daeyi’s castle. You’d think that Plaer would have you take a nearer portal, but no........Daeyi’s castle is on the whole other side of this reigon.”

“......No way.” Sabrina gasped.

“Yes way.” Icxel said. “Probably the quickest route would be through the Paradise Bluffs and then the Frozen Plains, but those are two of the most entrancing parts of the reigon.”

“What do you mean by.....entrancing?” Jia asked.

“They make you want to stay forever.” Icxel said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the other kids are stuck there. You have to have extremely strong willpower to resist the calling of the Paradise Bluffs and Frozen Plains.”

“So that way’s out.” Satoshi said. “What’s the next best way?”

“Well, you could go around the Paradise Bluffs and into the desert. But if you go that way you may run out of food. You could go the other way around farther into this forest, but you would probably get lost.” Icxel said.

“Well that doesn’t leave us with much of a choice.” Satoshi huffed.

“If it were me, I’d take the forest. But I have a better sense of navigation than humans, so it might be better for you if you take the desert.” Icxel said.

“Why can’t you come with us?” Jia asked.

“Me? Escorting humans? If I was caught, there’s no telling what......Daeyi might do to me.” Icxel said. He shuddered.

“Why do you always pause before saying Daeyi?” Sabrina asked.

“To say his name is a great feat in this part of the country. It is a symbol of great courage. Most creatures are too afraid to say his name, so they call him The Royal One.” Icxel said.

“Nice name.” Satoshi huffed.

“Well, I guess we’d better head off toward the desert.” Jia said. “Come on guys.”

“Wait! Don’t we need....a compass or something? To help us navigate?” Satoshi asked.

“Well, let me see.....you can take the map. I have no use for it, and I also have many copies. And I have this compass for you as well.” Icxel said. He pushed the map toward Jia and pulled a compass out of thin air. Jia took the map and compass.

“Thank you very much, Icxel.” She said. “You’ve been very helpful.”

“I try to be.” Icxel said and nodded.

“Let’s go now. Thanks Icxel!” Sabrina said.

“You’re very welcome.” Icxel said. Sabrina, Satoshi, and Jia walked away from Icxel and into the thick trees leading to the desert.

Well, I certainly hope that this trio remembers to bring at least some food and water with them as they head off into the desert... *crosses her fingers and hopes that Satoshi, Jia, and Sabrina don't get fried alive out in the endless sands*

I like the unicorn, Icxel already! This chapter was good, but pretty short.
